The Association is comprised of hospitality accommodation members- including bed and breakfast properties, inns, lodges, and independent boutique hotels.

MichBnB.com is more than just a platform for unique stays. It’s a collection of personal stories waiting to be discovered. MichBnb.com visitors and staycationers can discover their perfect road trip, peruse specials across the state, purchase gift certificates, and explore all this great state offers at the boutique properties that are the fabric of many Michigan communities. As unique stays and experiential hospitality are on the rise, the website delivers the best of the best in the state—including Cartier Mansionnamed #1 Historic B&B in America by Newsweek.

Travelers can even book a stay at a lighthouse in the UP at Big Bay Point Lighthouse, owned by the President of the American Lighthouse Foundation, Nick Korstad. A boutique hotel, Villa on Verona, operated by a young couple, Virginia and Mason Novess, with a dream in Marshall, shares its historic Italian-style villa. Retired teacher and United States Professional Tennis Association level coach Kristin Wilson promotes health, simplicity, and sustainability in Suttons Bay at Rōming Roost.

So often fall travel focuses on more northern climes, but destinations across the South know how to celebrate the season in their own “cool” ways. You’ll find changing leaves in many of these places, but autumn is also when these destinations host incredible festivals and events that bring together people and cultures … and lots and lots of pumpkins. This fall, MBPR encourages you to follow the birds and head south to see what all the fuss – and fun – is about.

Dollywood’s Harvest Festival in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee
September 9 through October 28

As the leaves change to their autumnal glory in the Great Smoky Mountains, Dollywood transforms its theme park into a celebration of fall during its Harvest Festival, presented by Humana. At this time of year, Dollywood features colossal pumpkins that weigh 800 to 1,500 pounds; Dolly Parton-inspired sights like a larger-than-life guitar (made of pumpkins!) that plays “Tennessee Mountain Home” and a tree where Dolly’s voice narrates the changing of the seasons in the Smokies; live musical performances including Southern gospel, bluegrass and country tunes; more than 50 world-class rides and attractions; and delicious fall-themed treats featuring pumpkin and apple flavors. At night the park transforms into “Great Pumpkin LumiNights,” presented by Covenant Health, and guests can view more than 12,000 illuminated pumpkins that have been carved into whimsical creatures.

International Festival in Bowling Green, Kentucky
September 28

Bowling Green is Kentucky’s third-largest city, and it’s considered a diversity epicenter in large part because it’s home to the state’s refugee resettlement center. Because of this, a wide range of cultures is represented in the city, especially within the small business community. Those cultures come together every fall for the International Festival, a cultural extravaganza that draws attendees from near and far. Festival-goers wander through bustling streets adorned with colorful flags and vibrant stalls offering authentic dishes from all around the world. More than 40 food vendors specializing in international cuisine serve their specialties, presenting international menus that incorporate locally-sourced ingredients. Attendees can grab a bite to eat while enjoying dynamic performances showcasing music, dance, and artistic expressions from a variety of cultures.

40th Annual Frank Brown International Songwriters’ Festival on Alabama’s Beaches
November 7 through 17

The Frank Brown International Songwriters’ Festival brings together nearly 200 of the unsung heroes of the music business from all over the world for a 10-day festival. Celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, the event takes place at venues along the AlabamaFlorida state line. Attendees can enjoy close-up and personal concert experiences (most of which are free!) while learning the stories behind many award-winning songs. The festival is named for Frank Brown, the former night watchman at the famed Flora-Bama Lounge and Oyster Bar, a great American roadhouse that straddles the state line. Songwriters play at the Flora-Bama, where it all began, and in approximately two dozen other locations across the beach communities of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, Alabama, and Perdido Key and Pensacola, Florida.

Big Boy’s Main Street Cook Off and Thibodeauxville Fall Festival in Louisiana’s Cajun Bayou
November 8 and 9

Two of the biggest fall events in Louisiana’s Cajun Bayou occur on the same weekend, which means that visitors get double the fall, double the fun, and double the food! Indulge in mouthwatering Cajun cuisine prepared by more than two dozen chef-led teams that work to showcase the area’s culinary heritage at Big Boy’s Main Street Cook Off. From savory gumbo (“sweater weather” in other parts of the country constitutes “gumbo weather” here on the bayou) to tasty jambalaya, there’s an array of vibrant tastes. Just as stomachs start to growl again, a new day brings the Thibodeauxville Fall Festival. People come to this free and award-winning event to enjoy Cajun food, art vendors, a car show and … ducks? Yep … the festival is best known for its rubber ducky race!

Crystal Lagoons continues to redefine urban living worldwide with its Public Access Lagoons® (PAL®) model, showcasing a tropical beach lifestyle in cities around the globe. The multinational innovation company, which boasts over 1,000 projects in various stages of development across 60 countries, is now making waves in Europe with a new venture in Seville, Spain. This Mediterranean city, renowned for its charm and attractiveness, will soon embrace a Caribbean atmosphere thanks to Crystal Lagoons’ latest project.

The upcoming complex in Seville will feature a crystalline lagoon designed for swimming and water sports, accessible to all through ticketed entry. The development will also include residential units, a hotel, stores, restaurants, and a range of commercial and entertainment facilities, delivering the quintessential PAL® experience.

Crystal Lagoons’ expansion in Europe is notable, with its presence in Spain, Italy, France, the Czech Republic, Poland, Romania, and Hungary, and ongoing projects in Murcia and the Costa del Sol. The Seville development is part of a series of European projects in collaboration with the award-winning Romanian firm Forty Management, including the recently successful Lagoon Park Bucharest.

“Seville boasts one of the best climates in Europe, allowing for year-round enjoyment of this PAL® project. It will enhance the city’s status as a top tourist destination and set a new standard of entertainment for millions of residents and visitors alike,” said Jean Pierre Juanchich, Global Business Director of Crystal Lagoons.

PAL® projects are recognized for their environmental benefits, potentially reducing the equivalent of 40% of the carbon footprint in the tourism and transportation sectors by offering beach experiences with turquoise waters and white sands close to home, thereby minimizing long-distance travel.

Appellation, the groundbreaking culinary-first hotel brand by celebrated American chef Charlie Palmer and luxury hospitality veteran Christopher Hunsberger, joins forces with visionary vintner Frank Léal of Léal Hospitality to announce Hotel MOHI by Appellation. Set to debut in fall 2025 in Silicon Valley’s charming Downtown Morgan Hill, the opening will mark the first full-service luxury boutique hotel in the destination.

Léal Hospitality has established Morgan Hill as a bourgeoning food and wine scene for Northern California, with epicurean-focused locations like MOHI Farm, Léal Vineyards, and MOHI Ranch, among others. Appellation’s foray into the community takes the Morgan Hill guest experience to another level. The 76-key, five-story Hotel MOHI by Appellation will offer unmatched accommodations for exploration and discovery of this vibrant town. As one of the pioneers behind the transformation of the Sonoma County Wine Region, Charlie Palmer now has his sights set on putting Morgan Hill on the map in a similar fashion.

“Our vision for Appellation is to uncover lesser-known culinary destinations by opening hotels in locales like Morgan Hill,” notes Appellation co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Charlie Palmer. “Appellation hotels are meant to express the essence of the place with a sense of ‘here.’ Like the rest of our portfolio, we will be truly embedding food and beverage into every aspect of Hotel MOHI by Appellation, from design to programming.”

Hotel MOHI by Appellation will be thoughtfully designed as the ultimate urban retreat for exploring Morgan Hills’ walkable downtown area – whose lively restaurant scene, boutique shops, cozy cafes and historic buildings are complemented by surrounding Santa Clara County vineyards. Intentionally positioned at 4.5 stars with approachable luxury in mind, the hotel will feature world-class service with a suite of modern amenities and experiences, while also intimately immersing guests in the local community.

At the heart of the hotel will be a 215-seat signature Charlie Palmer restaurant and bar, sourcing from on-site gardens, Léal Hospitality’s estates and other local purveyors. The hotel plans to produce key ingredients from scratch, including roasting small-batch coffee and making olive oil with olive trees grown on the premises.

“Frank Léal is a beloved pillar of the community. Leveraging his long-time commitment to Morgan Hill and to farm fresh, locally sourced dining will be key to the success of Hotel MOHI by Appellation,” says Appellation co-founder and Chief Operating Officer Christopher Hunsberger. “His establishments have long drawn in crowds from the greater Silicon Valley area, and we are excited to start bringing wider, much-deserved attention to the region with Hotel MOHI by Appellation.”

Additional hotel amenities will include a serene terrace pool and deck with lush greenery complete with a tucked-away pocket bar, a marketplace and flower shop lounge, and a café and bakery that transitions into a cocktail and wine bar come evening. The state-of-the-art, wine-country-inspired spa and fitness club will boast five treatment rooms offering olive scrub treatments, salt cleansing massages and a sauna room.

Hotel MOHI by Appellation’s 7,730 square-feet ballroom will have the capacity to host up to 500 people, representing the single largest indoor event space in Morgan Hill. The ballroom will also provide a modern organic design flex space that can open to a show-kitchen for live action culinary experiences. With an additional 1,861 square-feet of dedicated indoor function space, Hotel MOHI by Appellation will offer the most premium accommodations of any competitive luxury resorts or wineries in the region.

“Léal Hospitality’s existing portfolio of Morgan Hill-based venues currently host more than 65,000 annual guests across 400 weddings and events per year, and we are consistently forced to turn away 50 percent of inquiries due to limitations in venue space and surrounding lodging accommodations,” remarks Frank Léal, Owner, Léal Hospitality. “Our partnership to create Hotel MOHI by Appellation will allow us to accommodate a wider array of meetings and celebrations, solidifying Morgan Hill’s position as a major hub for gatherings in Silicon Valley and the surrounding wine country.”

With the addition of Hotel MOHI by Appellation, the Appellation brand continues to carve a name for itself in several iconic destinations. The brand will continue a steady stream of new-build openings with Appellation Healdsburg next year, followed by Appellation Sun Valley, Appellation Petaluma and Appellation Pacific Grove.

SYRACUSE, N.Y., Aug. 12, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — Over 800 pounds of butter has been delivered to the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse, N.Y., marking the start of construction for one of Central New York’s most cherished and best-kept secrets – the 56th Annual Butter Sculpture by the American Dairy Association North East, sponsored by Wegmans.

This past weekend, sculptors Jim Victor and Marie Pelton arrived with their tools and began the intricate process of crafting the annual sculpture, which will take about 11 days to complete on-site.

“Each year, the iconic butter sculpture shines a spotlight on our state’s dairy industry,” says John Chrisman, CEO of the American Dairy Association North East. “This remarkable attraction honors the hardworking dairy farmers of New York who dedicate themselves every day to sustainably and responsibly producing nutrient-rich milk.”

The butter used for the sculpture is provided by O-AT-KA Mik Products in Batavia, N.Y. It’s butter that doesn’t meet retail specifications for various reasons, so the American Dairy Association North East collaborates with the sculptors to transform it into a stunning work of art.

After its 13-day display at The Fair, the butter will be transported back to Western New York, where it will be recycled into renewable energy at Noblehurst Farms, a dairy farm in Pavilion, N.Y. Noblehurst Farms’ extensive recycling program converts over 500 tons of food waste from supermarkets, universities, and schools each month into enough energy to power the farm and more than 300 local homes. This recycling initiative not only reduces the farm’s carbon footprint but also diverts food waste from landfills, cutting down on greenhouse gas emissions.

The American Dairy Association North East will unveil the 56th Annual Butter Sculpture to the media and live on their Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/AmericanDairyNE/) on Tuesday, August 20th, the day before The Fair officially opens. The sculpture will then be on display in the Dairy Products Building for the entirety of The Fair.
